How To Add Keywords To Shopify Store

Adding keywords to meta title and meta description

Take the following steps:

  1. Click Edit website SEO in Search engine listing preview.
  2. Enter a descriptive title in the Page Title field. It should be up to 70 characters long and contain a relevant keyword.
  3. Write a unique description that describes the page and also include relevant keywords. The use of the keyword should be natural. It can be up to 320 characters long.
  4. Click Save.

Set a title and description for your Shopify store

Take the following steps:

  • Go to Shopify admin
  • Store
  • Preferences
  • Enter optimized title and meta description
  • Click Save

Page Title

The page title should be relevant to the page content. The title should be unique, descriptive and optimized using keywords. It should be up to 70 characters long.

Meta description

Set optimized meta descriptions for collection pages, web pages, blog posts and product pages in Shopify. It should be in plain, direct language.

Set image alt text

Search engines crawl text between HTML tags. Crawlers cannot crawl images. To tell the search engine what an image is all about, use a descriptive and optimized alt text.

Take the following steps:

  • Go to Shopify admin
  • Products
  • All products
  • Click the product
  • Click the image
  • Click Edit alt text
  • Enter a descriptive text optimized using a relevant keyword
  • Click Save alt text

Take the following steps to add a text to an image on a collection page or blog post:

  • Click the blog post or collection you want to edit.
  • Click Update under the image
  • Click Edit Image
  • Add a descriptive, optimized alt text 
  • Click Save
